Trainer John Island is the definition of champion—overcoming an unstable home, street-life and an ongoing battle with cancer. It is his fighting spirit that has enabled him to make it this far in his life and it is that quality he tries to instill in everyone who steps through the gym doors. His work ethic and compassion are reasons why some people refer to him as their brother.
